How To Install PVC Fencing?
PVC fencing solutions have revolutionised the entire market space in Melbourne. Made from high-density polyethylene, these fences offer weather resistance, longer life spans, and negligible annual maintenance costs.
Furthermore, unlike traditional fencing, plastic fencing is relatively easier to install. Whether you are a newbie contractor or a homeowner trying to find your way around the tools, here’s a step-by-step guide on installing plastic fences.
Step-By-Step PVC Fencing Installation Guide
1. Site Preparation
Before installing your poly fencing products, you need to clear the site. Remove the old fences, clean up the area, and trim the trees or bushes to create space. You will need enough space for markings for the new fence and also for you to manoeuvre around during installation.
2. Unpack And Visualise The Locations
Once the fences arrive, unpack and lay them out where you think they should go. This will help you visualise and determine the roughly correct spots along the fence lines. You can quickly identify and prevent any major mistakes during this stage.
3. Measure And Mark The Posts Location
Once you are satisfied with your rough layout, measure and mark the spots for the post holes.
4. Digging Up The Holes
Get to work using your shovel or auger to dig a hole at least 300mm wide and 650mm deep. Ensure you leave some space for creating a solid foundation of concrete below. You must dig deeper to achieve firm footing for your post if you are in soft sandy areas.
5. Setting Posts
Fill in the holes with gravel and concrete to create a firm foundation. Then proceed to set the posts into the holes. Ensure that you have at least 500mm of the post set into the concrete footing to ensure the post will not move in the footing.
6. Install The Rails, Infills And The Top Rail
All that is left is to insert the remaining elements into place. Start off with the bottom rail. Slide it into the two fence posts. Then proceed to set up the infills. Lastly, pop in the top rail to finish it off.
Once all that is done, check if the fences are appropriately aligned with a level gauge, and you are good to go. The pvc fencing suppliers advise screwing all the elements in to ensure they don’t slide out. If you wish to beautify your PVC fences further, you can add some caps on top of the PVC posts.
